International Schools Finals
Ruth is a 24 year old referee from Belfast with three years experience on the NLOP. Ruth was chosen this season to be a member of the NLOP Academy in its inaugural year. Under the guidance of her Referee Coach, Tony Burke FIBA, Ruth has developed into a valuable member of NLOP and its just reward for her continued development that the NRC has chosen Ruth to attend the International Schools Finals to be held in Croatia 29th April until the 7th May. Ruth is also to officiate at the Scania Cup in April.
After being absent from NLOP for ten years due to injuries, Emma returned three years ago. In those three seasons, Emma has attained her Grade 1 License and has attended to two FIBA Clinics. Emma refereed her first Men’s Superleague Final 2015/16 and with the help and guidance of her Referee Coach, Dave Smith FIBA, Emma has developed into one of the best referees in the country. Emma will join Ruth Neill at this year’s World Schools Finals in Croatia.
FIBA Clinic for Potential FIBA Candidates 2019/21
Conor Vandendries, Niamh Callaghan
Conor (22) and Niamh (24) will attend the first FIBA Clinic for potential FIBA’s 2019/21 in Sweden April 12th – 16th. Both officials have excelled this season as members of the NLOP Academy and we are delighted to have been able to nominate both for this clinic. Niamh has only refereed at NLOP level for one season while Conor has just finished his second year.
11th FIBA European Women’s Basketball Clinic, Postojna – Slovenia
From Limerick, Leanne has just finished her second season as a member of the NLOP and is a member of the NLOP Academy. In appointing Leanne to this FIBA Clinic will enhance her officiating and help her at just 22 years of age, reach her goals.
Scania Cup Soditalia – Sweden
24 year old Ciaran, in his first year as both a member of the NLOP and the NLOP Academy has managed to combine playing at the highest level with Killester in the Men’s Superleague and refereeing. Ciaran refereed at the National Playoffs weekend at the end of the season. As part of Ciaran’s development, he will travel to Sweden to officiate at the Scania Cup.
Two years into his NLOP career, Mariusz will participate for the second year running at the Scania Cup in Sweden. Originally from Poland, Mariusz has become a very valued member of the NLOP and see’s this tournament as an essential part of his refereeing development.
At 17 years of age Mark will become the youngest member to travel abroad this season to gain International experience. Mark has just completed the Advance Referees Course while officiating at local level in Dublin. The NRC is delighted to nominate Mark to this tournament and hope it will be the stepping stone to NLOP level next season.
